Problem Definition
Ericsson is among the world-leaders in the fast-growing and dynamic telecommunications and data communications industry. It offers advanced communications solutions for mobile and fixed networks, as well as consumer products.

The People & Culture Department at Ericsson recognises that the real assets of Ericsson are its employees. Keeping them in mind, Ericsson wishes to provide various employee-focussed services and modules through the Ericsson Corporate Intranet (india.ericsson.se). These initiatives would be aimed at Employee Motivation, Entertainment, Knowledge Sharing and Performance Management.

Solution Framework
Convergent Technologies is developing the Competence Management System (CMS), as a part of the Ericsson India Intranet initiative. The Competence Management System provides a common platform for Ericsson employees to cater to their psychological needs. It also helps them to continuously develop and enhance their competencies in line with the company goals and rapidly changing market demands.

The existing Competence Management System is also being developed further to incorporate Knowledge Network, Best Practices, Computer based Training, Mind Tests, Information, Humor and Fun Zone.
