Problem Definition
Convergent Technologies and MultiVirt Digital Arts are creating a suite of products called VidAuto that would change the way Production, Editing and Storage happens at Large Television Channels like National Geographic, Discovery Channel, STAR, Sahara TV and Zee TV.

Solution Framework
VidAuto is an application that lets any large Broadcast House the power to automate their Post Production Process:

1. Asset Manager captures video in both broadcast quality (for final editing) and low resolution (for indexing and playback)

2. Chief Editor does logical indexing on the low resolution Video by inserting time information and other indexing information for each logical video segment. This information is stored in the database.

3. Other editors working under him use that information for searching the right video segments (say segments on Madhav Rao Scindia) from the huge Database of Videos.

4. From these segments, editors can mark their in-points and out-points on the segments (pulled out from various videos) and build a rundown, which is stored as a log file (readable by Adobe Premiere, dps Velocity etc.).

5. The log files can be opened in either Adobe Premiere or dps Velocity and other non-linear editing Applications. Premerie (or Velocity) will then build the broadcast quality final story (let`s say on Bill Clinton!) by using the broadcast quality video segments (based on information from the log file)

VidAuto will be developed to become a full-fledged Post Production Automation Application. As per the understanding, MultiVirt Digital Arts, New Delhi will build the required Infrastructure (Hardware, Networking etc.) to the client and Convergent Technologies will handle the software development part.

Application will be developed in Visual C++ with the help of MCI controls.

It has 2 Interfaces:

Interface I : Capturing and Indexing a clip
Interface II: Searching the indexed clips`DB, playing it again, making log files, modifying the parameters, exporting logfile to Adobe Premier format etc.

Amongst other functionalities, this application can be used for Indexing, Searching, Editing, Segmentation and automated Playouts.
