Content Management System for Powergrid Public Portal

Problem Definition:
Powergrid, a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise, is one of the largest transmission utilities in the world. Powergrid wheels about 45% of the total power generated in the country on its transmission network. Powergrid has also diversified into the Telecom business and has a telecom network of more than 20,000 Kms across the country.

Powergrid wanted a powerful content management system which can manage the dynamic content through a rich user interface with version control.

The requirement was a bilingual site (Hindi & English) with provision to add other languages in future. Their existing systems for Tenders needed to be integrated with the new site.

News and Events management have advanced publishing features. A Search engine was required to search the content of either the entire website or of certain portions of it. Integration with an external search engine (Google) was also provided.

Administrators of the site can be assigned various roles such as approver, publisher, contributor etc.

Solution Framework:
The entire solution has been developed using the SmoothGreen framework 2.0 (http://www.smoothgreen.com)
